HARD why hockey players to do shorts? Anyone else think that?
I know the Hartford Whalers wore trousers back in the 70s for a Why did the little shorts Why not the full pants? This has always annoyed me? It's stupid question, but it just looks funny doing it? GET OFF UR high horse! I wonder how this trend started SHEESH!
Having played in both eras, there are advantages and disadvantages for both shorts and long pants. The long pants actually less constrictive than shorts while playing. But we look Dorks, while wearing them. The protection was in both cases against the skin and the straps in position kept up with. Leg pads were more likely to move while wearing the trousers, but the protection was similar. Remembering the problem with the Cooperalls was that, if you fell while carrying them slipped quickly over the ice and went harder on the boards. Skates legs could easily get caught in the loose and causes a different Problem. But the real reason is, that was before Cooperalls body armor or protection in loose trousers. By Cooperalls pads were in a style that belt on the skin better Protection was considered. Modern pants are now shaped body and offer the same protection as the belt will look like the smart solution used with the trousers.
